The ELA track program introduces and develops skills in sprinting, short & long distance running, hurdles, relays, shot-put, and long jump.

  • Practices are held twice a week with scheduled games (see calendar for specific dates, times, and locations).
  • At practice, athletes build speed, strength and endurance through drills, short and long distance running, and interval training. The students will have an opportunity to learn about all aspects of long and short distance running, access their own progress through event scores/times, and participate in a team sport.
  • Location: Practices take place at ELA.
  • If you are interested in volunteering to help at a meet or practice, please contact Mr. Philip Echavez, Athletic Director.
  • Athletes should wear running gear and running shoes for practice.

MEET SCHEDULE:

5th/6th graders are welcome to compete at any 7th/8th grade meet; however, 7th/8th graders may only participate in 7th/8th grade meets. Please check the Athletic calendar for scheduled meets.

The meets begin at 5 p.m. and typically last about 2 hours (the conference meet begins at 1 p.m. and runs longer). However, parent volunteers are crucial at helping keep the meets running on time! In order to make a meet line-up, it is very important that we know which athletes will be participating. Please let me know as soon as possible what meets your athlete can and cannot attend.
