East Lake Academy Girls Challenge Program

Dear East Lake Parents,

My name is Melanie Pilon, and I am consecrated woman in Regnum Christi. I have been involved for the last two years with the girls Challenge Club at East Lake Academy, which Colleen Conarchy generously led as Club Leader! I would like to begin by thanking her for her love and zeal in these last two years of leading the Club and really getting it off its feet! Colleen has decided to hand off the baton to other parents this year, as she also gives her time to many other activities.

Challenge is a program for girls to grow in virtue, friendship and their Catholic faith. It’s a program for girls to learn about themselves and develop their Christian leadership both through the formation they receive and by doing apostolic works, creating a positive impact on family, friends, and the world. Challenge allows our daughters to build mentoring relationships between older and younger girls as the Challenge program utilizes Teen Team Leaders. You can learn more about Challenge at http://www.challengeclubs.com. Challenge is open to girls in grades 5-8.

This year, we are looking for two or three parents who would consider helping with coordination of the Challenge Club this year. Concretely this would imply:
• Treasurer – helping to collect registration fees and manage the simple income/expenses of the Club
• Presence at meetings (as a VIRTUS requirement, we must have 2 adults present at every meeting. The RC missionaries and myself will be there most weeks, but we would need parents to help with this role)
• Emergency response, motherly support
• Supervision of apostolic projects

*Parent volunteers do not need to worry about running the meetings. We have 4 wonderful high school team leaders who commit themselves to preparing and leading the meetings, as a way of modeling peer leadership. They will do this under the leadership of the RC missionaries and myself.

If you are interested in helping as a parent volunteer, please contact me at mpilon@regnumchristi.net or (224)500-7588.

Our Challenge meeting will be held at East lake Academy on the following Friday nights listed below from 6:30PM to 8:30PM. The cost for the year is $100 to cover the cost of materials and various projects throughout the year.
