The East Lake Middle School, through the generosity of East Lake supporters, recently purchased 20 Chrome Books. The Chrome Books will be transitioned in to replace the student laptops we currently use. As the student machines are growing old and out of date, the Chrome Books are coming at just the right time. Many of the local high schools currently use Chrome Books on a one-to-one basis and therefore we want to ensure our students are confident navigating them before they graduate ELA. Students in 6th through 8th grade will learn the inner workings of Google Drive, Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Slides and more. Their work with be saved on their cloud accounts which they will also be able to access from home. We are excited for this switch and are eager to get started. Once the new machines are up and going and well integrated into our curriculum, we will also be exploring options for one-to-one devices for the middle school. The East Lake approach to technology has always been to enhance our curriculum as well as to help students become more efficient in the learning process. It is our hope with these new Chome Books we can do just that and leave our graduates even more prepared for high school.

In Christ,
Mrs. Jennifer Patel
