Sam Schuler, ELA Class of 2017

I am currently a Freshman at Northridge Preparatory in Niles, IL and a 2017 alum of East Lake Academy. The advanced curriculum along with the support and guidance of East Lake Academy teachers has played a big role in helping me to balance academics, extra-curriculars and social activities in high school. For three semesters at Northridge Prep, I made the Dean’s List which I attribute to hard work and study but also the academic foundation that I had received at East Lake Academy.

Another way that East Lake has prepared me for high school was the emphasis on time management in the middle school which has allowed me to participate in numerous high school extracurriculars. I am on the Debate team, Acapella, Fall Drama production, The Thwarting of Baron Bolligrew, and current Spring Musical, Treasure Island.

The faith formation taught and supported by the East Lake Academy teachers has provided me with an excellent foundation that has helped me to excel in my high school catechesis class. Once a week, and with other Northridge Prep students, I participate in the Freshman Launch Program and Circle at the Sauganash Study Center in Chicago.  The Sauganash Study Center which is entrusted to Opus Dei, is dedicated to the academic and character development of young men. My time at East Lake Academy has provided valuable academic, faithful and life lessons that I have carried forward into high school.

Jen and Robert Schuler, Sam’s parents comment on Sam’s experience: “We feel that Sam has been so well prepared at East Lake and that he has been able to conquer the rigors of high school.  The challenging ELA middle school workload has prepared Sam enough that he is able to effectively time manage, prioritize and tackle his high school load with ease.  Thank you ELA!
