Elementary French Teacher –

East Lake Academy in Lake Forest, IL seeks Elementary French Teacher. The Elementary French Teacher will be teaching pre-K, kindergarten, and elementary aged students from 3 to 14 years old. Develop and implement a French language curriculum for students 5-13 years old. Create engaging and interactive lesson plans that cater to the individual learning needs of students. Utilize behavior management strategies to create a positive and inclusive classroom environment. Provide one-on-one and small group instruction to support student learning and development. Collaborate with other teachers and support staff to ensure the integration of French language skills into the overall curriculum. Assess student progress and provide feedback to students, parents, and school administration. Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in special education and language instruction. Use a variety of educational techniques (storytelling, educational play, media etc.) to teach children: use diverse methods to engage children include reading stories, organizing games, using multimedia resources, and involving children in hands-on activities. Observe each child to help them improve their social competencies and build self-esteem: Assistants need to watch how each child interacts with their peers and adults and identify ways to support their social and emotional growth. This includes recognizing and encouraging positive behaviors and providing support when challenges arise. Encourage children to interact with each other and resolve occasional arguments: It’s essential to create a positive classroom environment where children feel safe to express themselves. Assistants should facilitate interactions, help children develop interpersonal skills, and mediate when disagreements occur. Track children’s progress and report to parents: Regularly monitoring and documenting each child’s developmental progress is crucial. Collaboration ensures that best practices are shared and implemented consistently across the school. Maintain a clean and tidy classroom consistent with health and safety standards: A clean, organized classroom is crucial for creating a healthy learning environment.

Must have experience with (i) working with students on French grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation; (ii) developing and adapting curriculum materials to meet the diverse needs of students; (iii) safety and sanitation guidelines for classrooms including health, safety, and sanitation standards critical to maintaining a safe learning environment for children; (iv) communicating and interacting with children, parents, and colleagues; and (v) mediating between children to help mediate conflicts and foster positive interactions among children. Must also be fluent in French language, both written and spoken and possess a CPR certification. $73,830.00 per year
