Third Graders Present Wax Museum

The creative students in Ms. Gorman’s third grade class treated the school to an interactive wax museum experience as part of a recent assignment. As part of their Language Arts and Social Studies curriculums, the students were assigned to research a famous person using both internet and books and to write about their childhoods, adult lives and accomplishments. The students were then asked to create illustrated back drops including photos, quotes and a timeline of their chosen subjects’ lives.

With this work done, the wax museum opened to the ELA public on Thursday, February 10th. The famous “wax” figures were positioned in the gym where they stood perfectly still until someone pressed their button upon which they delivered a brief speech about their famous person. The third graders had a great time with this project and learned valuable research and public speaking skills and the other classes, teachers and parents enjoyed the opportunity to visit the “museum.”
