For the 3rd year in a row, East Lake has received a grant from the Westerman Foundation. This year, we used funds to purchase several cordless, charging stereoscopes and a cart to store, transport, and charge them. A stereoscope is a microscope that can look at slides and can also “zoom in” on any solid object! We also purchased a handheld microscope that connects to the computer, so teachers in younger grades are able to display the magnified image on the projector. These tools could be used in many ways- to look at samples of leaves, fingers, hair, insects, rocks, or any object that a teacher would like to show the class in detail that would previously been difficult or require the teacher to walk around the classroom to show each child. There are so many possibilities to use this technology!
